Please remember that any and all formal requests for advice must be made through the structures of the union, i.e. to your regional officials and EC member. Under FBU rules, every FBU Brigade Committee must have a negotiating committee in place. In addition, it is the duty of every regional committee to: ‘supervise the conduct of negotiations within its territory in accordance with the policy of the Union. In cases in which the policy on matters to be negotiated has not been determined by Conference or by the Executive Council it shall be the duty of the Regional Committee to refer such matters to the Executive Council for guidance.’

Therefore this facility should not be used to seek formal advice or input into negotiations which are properly the matter of regional committee oversight.

This is an official FBU facility, so all the values & standards of conduct expected by the union apply. Anyone found to be misusing this site or undertaking activities such as canvassing, could be made the subject of sanctions.

In relation to the Maternity pay increase to 26 weeks from the 2024 pay award the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have implemented this to apply to women commencing maternity leave on or after 1 July 2024. Are there any FRSs that have implemented this differently? i. ... 1 July and receiving 26 weeks? (with the exception of the FRSs that have already increased beyond 26 weeks) thanks in advance.

I'm currently trying to influence my service in how we assist people who are suffering with cancer and I'm looking for any best practice policies out there for this. Ideally I would like policies that waive the sickness triggers for cancer and support ... remove the added stress of pay when members are fighting for their life. Whilst we understand the matter in relation to RDS pay - a simple recalculation basically for previous 52 weeks rather than as as was over 12 weeks...whether this is something we should be arguing for WT remains unclear. There is reference to pay being irregular - and ... etc involving OT etc which I find hard to translate to WT irrespective of the type of OT worked? Any help welcome YIU Gary

Comrades. At one of our D/C stations we have had a member book sick (expected to be for a prolonged period) and has raised the question about Day Crewed members not getting average turnouts like RDS. Good morning All, Have any of your brigades started paying holiday pay on top of your OT pay or for any additional hours worked, RDS positive hours worked? I know LFB have an agreement in place following the legal challenges and I'm led to believe other brigades ... regular enough to constitute "normal pay" If you have this, can you please send me your agreements and SOP's? Avon continue to pay CPD once the individual has applied irrespective of promotion etc. It is the individuals responsibility to apply. Only time it is removed is due to Discipline issues. Gary
